Bantam Crushers open strong at home
The stands were full and the atmosphere intense at the Trenton rink Sunday afternoon as time wound down on the scoreboard.
Tied 11, both the Truro Bearcats and the Scotsburn Major Bantam Crushers were looking for the goal that could mean the win for them.
Finally, with just 43 seconds left, Matt Sartoris assisted by Lance Emery and Evan MacLennan put the puck in the net to the loud applause of the crowd.
Sartoris, who is the captain of the team, admits he was tired when he made the shot, michael kors paris, but was relieved to see it go in.
"It's been a while since I got one of those," he said.
Coach Richard White had hoped for a strong start to their season and couldn't be happier with the performance his players showed Sunday coming off a 63 loss the night before.
"We played much more as a team," he said.
He was also happy to see so many fans out for the game.
"That was perfect. It's good to get some support from the community," he said. "I love to see it and the kids do too."
He believes first impressions for fans are important. Few will be disappointed with Sunday's game he said.
In addition to Sartoris' goal Colin Holmes scored in the first period on a breakaway. Tyler Howe had the win in nets.
On Saturday the Crushers had lost 63 to the Dartmouth Whalers, but the game was actually much closer White said with two of the goals against them being empty netters.
